How To Survive Camp…………

IMG_9386

This is our troop…….IMG_9380 Me signing Alissa in…..do I look flustered or what?????????

Alissa went to Girl Scout camp last month for the first time by herself.  Well I should clarify….with the 7 other girls in our troop.  She went without her leader who also happens to be her mother!  It was the longest 4 days of my life!  She had a blast…..horseback riding, canoeing, archery, swimming in the lake and everything Girl Scout!

To prepare her (as if) I made her this “How to Survive Camp Journal.”  Really I should have myself a “How to Survive your daughter being gone for 4 Days” book!

She loved it……..

I used the concrete jungle kit from Club Scrap.  Be sure to click the pictures if you want to see enlarged and to read the prints.

Filled with letters from her family, quotes, jokes, recommendations, and lots of pages for her to journal.
This will be something she can use again and again for camp – and reflect back to her first camp experience!

You are the Queen of cool books! What a great idea and one I'll have to remember when my
daughter(s) goes to camp without me. I'll need a survival manual myself for that!

My youngest is now old enough and I'm signing her up for Girl Scouts tomorrow night. She's excited. Normally, I leave her home with hubby while I take my oldest to her Girl Scout meetings. I had to take her with me once and when we got inside, she said, "Are we going to go hiking? Where are the smores?" SO cute!

So, so cute...can I order two for the boys for next year when they go to summery camp...? As, Leigh Ann said - You ARE the QUEEN of cool books! Beautiful, and what a beautiful thing for Alissa to have later to reflect on.

Great idea Eve! I would have loved that when I went to camp (the one and only time was to Girl Scouts and I was miserable). I missed my mom and Spencer alot.... told her I was never doing that again! LOL I'm glad Alissa had a great time!! :)

Why do I blog?

I have never been one to keep a journal. I have never been able to write in a diary for more than a week! I have countless scrapbooks that still need to be journaled. I do this in hopes of becoming a better journalist. I do this to document everyday life. I do this so I don't have to scrapbook EVERY picture! I do this for me, our friends and family, & mostly the kids. One day they will have it all - because I took the time to document all the little things that REALLY do matter. Everyday life....all the little moments you & I can't remember because the memories are long gone.......
