Robby Going To Camp.......

These are pictures Robby's mom took of him with his new hair cut. He is at camp this week. He is camping on the Oregon Coast at a special camp for kids. There are 4 counselors for 11 boys in his cabin. He is within walking distance of the beach. They also have a lake with a swimming area, sail boats and canoes. He will also get to sleep outdoors one night in a tee-pee! He is bunking with his friend Miller- so that will be fun for him. I am sure Robby will be having cell phone/texting withdrawals by the end of the week! NO cell phones allowed!!!

My Favorite Coffee Mugs......

My "E" mug. From my friend Debby. I could never find things with my name on it as a kid. Still can not! I mean- I know EVE is not that common. But come on, it is EVE!! So I love the fact that it has a E on it! My favorite part is the shape of it, and the fact that it is pink inside!
This is my holly berry mug from my friend Lisa. It is a Starbucks mug so it is weighted a little more heavy which I LOVE. I think it is a Christmas mug- but I think the simple design of it is beautiful. The raised flowers and berries are my favorite.
This is my newest mug. It is from my friend Monica. She hand painted it for me. I love the color combination of blues and purple. I also like the circular pattern. She put lots of detail into this piece and it shows! The hand painted handle, rim, and even the bottom of the inside of the cup. All with a precise hand! My favorite part of this mug is the 3-D paint on the handle in small white dots!

Since we have been on summer vacation- I have been able to enjoy my morning cup of coffee a little bit more! I admit I pick my cup in the morning based on my mood! These last few weeks I have been having two cups a day! My norm is about 1/2 cup!
Do you have a favorite mug for your coffee or tea?

Beach Layout.....

This is the KOTW from Green Tangerines.
Pictures are as follows:
Me scrapin', sunset at the beach (the beach ball covered up the date stamp in the lower corner.) As much as I love knowing the dates of my pictures- I am forever trying to crop out date stamps! So this was an easy solution to that pet-peeve! The cropping room with me, Lisa, Denise, Michelle & Raimi (Deb's taking the picture.) Sorry for the glare...., Raimi all decked out in her DJ gear! She played DJ (and did a FINE job at it) the year before- so we got her all this crazy teeth, necklaces, rings, etc. I must say she was very hesitant to put those teeth in her mouth.... she said something like... "lead covered" or something! She was a good sport and popped them in her mouth just for the picture. And 5 months later she is still with us- so they must have only had a slight coating of lead! Deb on the beach, Lis and I. Click on the journaling if you want to read. Of course that little journal box was not nearly big enough for me to cover all the fun and highlights!
Thanks Brandi! These kits are fun and super easy to add pictures to. Especially when you are tired and not in the creative thinking mode! I used it for my beach scrapbooking weekend pictures. Only I did not have enough vertical pictures - so I had to adapt my pictures a little bit. I think it still turned out cute! We had so much fun on this trip. I can not wait until our next one!
Enjoy!

Camping At The Lake......

Beautiful view of the lake.....
We enjoy getting away from it all in town- and heading up to the lake. We brought the kids bikes this time. They had a blast motoring around our site and down to the general store for some candy! The air is cleaner up there. And it just smells so much better too! Coming home does make you appreciate the comforts of home too!
Going for a morning hike.....
Jake checking out the wildlife......
Logan thought this rock was cool..................
Alissa learning to swim in the lake without a life jacket..........

Boys + sticks....... = batting tee & bat.........
Checking out the lake through the binoculars........
Rob was making fun of me with my frappuccino's! Gotta have my Starbucks! Plus Rob insists on making coffee "camping" style. In a peculator- that is FULL of grounds, and so dark and thick it is like syrup!
View from our tent.......
Logan swimming for the first time in the lake without his life jacket.....

Jakers swimming....
Lissa waking up.....

Jump,climb,slide, bounce........

A local inflatable play area had a promotion this last week. If you brought in some canned goods per child- they could bounce and play for one hour. Deb and I met up with the kids. Matthew could not make it since he had basketball camp all week!
Jake climbing in the web-tower....
Logan gonna knock-you-out....
Lissa and Logan "play" fighting......
Some kid did come in when Logan was in the ring- put on the other set of gloves and just started beating the crap out of him. Sweet Logan just smiled the whole time- not sure if this kid was for real or what. (The kid was at least 4 years older) I kept waiting to see what Logan would do. He never returned a punch (lucky for that kid!!!) and when his gloves fell off- I yelled at the kid to stop. I don't think Logan knew it was okay to hit him back! After that Logan was like' "I'm outta here". And that kid turned on his little sister and beat the crap out of her! NICE.... made me grateful for my kids and the fact that they are not TOO rough!

Cheeseburger Soup...........

CHEESEBURGER SOUP (MAKES ABOUT 10-12 CUPS)

BROWN and Saute:::
1-2 pounds ground beef
1 large white onion (diced)
1 1/2 cups celery, diced (If you don't care for celery- you may use corn. Add at end)

ADD::::::
3-----14 oz. cans chicken broth
7 large carrots, diced (or even just chopped small)
5 large potatoes, peeled and diced (or even just chopped small)
Cook until tender over med-hi heat.

THEN:::::
Make a paste of
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
Mix a little flour with a little milk and then add the rest of the milk...

ADD TO THE SOUP:::::
1/2 tsp. basil (dried ok)
1 tsp. parsley (dried ok)
16 slices of Kraft Cheese Slices (cut into cubes and then added to the soup-----these will melt and the soup will begin to look like a potato soup----just tastes wonderful)
{*You could add the corn now if you chose to use it}

Simmer this for 5 minutes until thick....

This is my friend Vicki's Aunt Tammy's recipe! Thank you to both for letting me post. This is a yummy home style soup. My kids will eat it too! Vicki got me to try it- and I am glad she did!
Enjoy!

Why do I blog?

I have never been one to keep a journal. I have never been able to write in a diary for more than a week! I have countless scrapbooks that still need to be journaled. I do this in hopes of becoming a better journalist. I do this to document everyday life. I do this so I don't have to scrapbook EVERY picture! I do this for me, our friends and family, & mostly the kids. One day they will have it all - because I took the time to document all the little things that REALLY do matter. Everyday life....all the little moments you & I can't remember because the memories are long gone.......
