Schindler's List........

Everyone has a story to tell....it's just some peoples stories are more astonishing than others. Rob and I went to hear Leon Leyson speak last night in Rocklin. He told an amazing story of life, survival, death, and his experience as a Holocaust survivor as one from Schindler's List. Not only did he speak of his life prior to the war, living in the Ghetto in Krakow, life in camps, and working for Oscar Schindler- he spoke of his amazing life after and his survival. He spoke of how he came to the states and only after two years was drafted for the Korean war. He spoke of how he taught for the LA Unified School District for 39 years, his wife and children, and even introduced us to some of his family there. An amazing man with a touching story. One that I will never forget. I am thankful to have had this opportunity to hear him speak of his trials and survival. It reminds me of how fortunate I am. How dear the things I hold close are to me. He said something last night that I will never forget.... "You don't know you are lucky until you are unlucky." If you have never seen the movie or don't know the story, even if you do click on the below link and take a moment to remind yourself.
Here is a informative site with lots of information regarding the man and his life and trials.

Eve what a powerful and empowering story. I was very emotional reading it and visiting the site.

I have had many troubles in my life and have found myself with a family that has left me out in the cold.

However we have the ability to fly in the face of adversity and survive where we never expected.

Every day I thank God for my life, my husband and my son... My family.

Despite every trial I have been through I do feel lucky, stories like this just confirm this.

Hugs from me to you.

Why do I blog?

I have never been one to keep a journal. I have never been able to write in a diary for more than a week! I have countless scrapbooks that still need to be journaled. I do this in hopes of becoming a better journalist. I do this to document everyday life. I do this so I don't have to scrapbook EVERY picture! I do this for me, our friends and family, & mostly the kids. One day they will have it all - because I took the time to document all the little things that REALLY do matter. Everyday life....all the little moments you & I can't remember because the memories are long gone.......
