I found these in my Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
They are super yummy. Especially right out of the oven. The red hots are a little mushy. {They harden back up once they cool.}
This is before I baked them.
After….
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Large bag of Red Hots {I found mine at the dollar store}
Heat oven to 375. In small bowl sift together flour, baking soda, and baking powder: set aside.
In large mixing bowl beat butter with electric mixer on medium to high speed 30 seconds. Add sugar: beat until combined, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat in egg and vanilla. Beat in as much flour mixture as you can with mixer. {I was able to mix in all} stir in remaining by hand.
Use your cookie scooper to form balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Use bottom of glass to flatten cookies. Lightly press in candies. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden. Cool on cookie sheets for 2 minutes. Move to racks to cool.
