Journey to the center of the Earth........
Waiting for it to get dark....
Still waiting....
Loving on Daddy....
Jake and Mommy with the feather he found.....
This particular Drive-In has been open for over 35 years. It will be closing soon- so we wanted to take the kids. We wanted to make sure that they have this incredible memory and experience- before they are never able to attend one again.
Rob and I were reminiscing all the memories that we had from the Drive-In's that we used to go to as kids. The one I went to back home was closed when I was about my kids age. I remember how the cars would bottom out on the mounds. I remember the little sound boxes that you had to put on your car window. You don't need those now- you just tune to a local FM radio station. Rob remembered the swing sets the kids used to play on waiting for the movie to start. And tossing a football playing the waiting game! He also remembered the cars that would come in late with the headlights- messing up the screen.
I remember the horns honking while waiting in the long lines to get in - or for the movie to start!
There used to be over 3,000 Drive-In's in the States. Now there are only about 500. Definitely a dying breed.
Not only was it a good show- but a bargain too! $4.75 for Rob and I, and $1.00 for each kid! If you have one close- by take the kids one night. I promise you they will remember it forever!

Why do I blog?
I have never been one to keep a journal. I have never been able to write in a diary for more than a week! I have countless scrapbooks that still need to be journaled. I do this in hopes of becoming a better journalist. I do this to document everyday life. I do this so I don't have to scrapbook EVERY picture! I do this for me, our friends and family, & mostly the kids. One day they will have it all - because I took the time to document all the little things that REALLY do matter. Everyday life....all the little moments you & I can't remember because the memories are long gone.......

How fun! I remember going to drive-ins too! I remember seeing Smokey and the Bandit and Grease at the drive in! So much fun! What a great thing to do with your kids. I'll have to remember to do that with mine. We have a drive in close to us too.
How sweet! I wish we had a drive in near us...I would love to take the kids there to get a taste of times that were....
Oh my gosh...a blast from the past...I worked my whole high school years (the 70's) at several Drive In theatres. I can remember listening to 'Killer Tomatoes' about a 100 times...and then came 'Return of the Killer Tomatoes' LOL...what fine theatre!
